Why Men Need Ceremony

Join Megan and Tenneson for this beautiful conversation exploring why we all need more ritual and ceremony in our lives, and how men can start to create ceremonial moments for themselves and for others.

During our conversation, we discuss the archetypes that can hold men back from ceremony. We also explore the power of micro ceremonies or small, daily rituals and how we can empower our kids with ceremonial stories. Finally, we talk about why men need to create ceremonial spaces for themselves and each other.

Stigmas Men Face

Men are often discouraged from expressing their emotions or seeking emotional support, which can make it difficult for them to participate in rituals and ceremonies that require vulnerability and openness. It can also be difficult to find spaces where they can connect with other men without feeling self-conscious or judged.

Ceremonies and rituals often involve shared experiences and traditions that foster a sense of community and belonging among men. Rituals help men to process and integrate significant life changes, such as puberty, marriage, fatherhood, and aging. They provide a sense of closure on one stage of life and a sense of anticipation for the next.
